Senior Pet Wellness Plans

 

As we get older our bodies start to complain a bit more. We start to get aches and pains and require annual medical check-ups. The same is true for our pets and as they age at a faster rate than us, medical issues can rapidly develop without you noticing. Diagnosing and treating geriatric conditions early offers the best chance of successful outcomes.

If you love your older pet call us about our Senior Wellness Check-Up Plan. We recommend twice yearly screening for geriatric diseases as pets age to ensure they have long and happy lives as they grow older.

 

Why Have A Senior Wellness Plan Check-Up?

 

25% of older dogs have skin tumours
50% of pets over 10 have arthritis
80% of older pets have dental disease
40% of older pets are obese
10% of pets over 10 have kidney disease
12% of older pets have hormone imbalances such as Thyroid Conditions, Diabetes, Chushings disease
6% of dogs have bladder stones
30% of pets die from cancer
20% of older pets have urinary incontinence
10% of dogs have liver disease

 

When your pet has a Senior Wellness Check-Up we will screen for these conditions and treatment plans or specialised diets can be used to manage or treat these geriatric conditions. For your senior pet we recommend annual vaccinations, 1/2 yearly health checks, yearly blood test, yearly urine test, as well as a blood pressure check. Not doing so can adversly affect them later on in life. Pets cannot tell us if they are suffering and many hide treatable age related conditions without us realising. Senior Wellness Check-Ups are the only way to truly look after our senior pets.

Faq

  • I was using another Vet. Can I change to Sanford Vet Clinic?

    Yes you can. Call us for an appointment and let us know you are wanting to change to Sanford Vet. We will organise to have your pets medical records transferred to us. It's that easy.

  • Do I have to pay on the day?

    Yes, all consults and procedures have to be finalised on the day or when picking up your pet.

  • Do you have payment plans?

    Yes, for more complex procedures or surgery we can organise finance through VetPay. Ask our nurses for more details.

  • What are your opening hours?

    We are open extended hours 6 days a week for your convenience.

    Mon - Fri 8:00 am to 5:30 pm

    Sat 8:00 am to 12 noon

    Sun Closed

  • Do you have Puppy Pre-School?

    Yes we do, it's highly recommended. Puppy Pre-School is run on Thursday evenings. Classes start at 6.30pm with another at 7.30pm but bookings are essential. Call us to book your puppy in today!
